Welcome to El Magey Mexican Buffet Restaurant, the family friendly fun spot for south-of-the-border food and libation, pronounced "el mah-gey". We are named after the maguey plant used to make tequila in Mexico.

From a small personal lunch to the big bash birthday party, we accommodate all!

Children are always welcome - and there's a special Kid's Night buffet item of chicken fingers and french fries on Monday through Thursday.

Customer comfort and satisfaction together with our delicious food and beverages keep customers coming back again and again to El Magey.

Restauranteur Ruderis "Rudi" Gomez, along with his brother Alex, and Tommy Sessions started El Magey in 2004 and it has grown to become Baton Rouge's most popular Mexican buffet.

Anner & Myara GomezToday, another Gomez brother, Anner, and his wife Mayra continue the family traditon as owner/managers and take a daily hands on approach to managing the business.

Anner's mother Tomasita created many of the fine recipes still in use today. Several waiters and waitresses have been with the organization for many years and take pride in providing friendly and efficient service to everyone.

Rudi Gomez opened another great restaurant in the area and now manages it full time. Be sure to visit Rudi at Sarita's Grill & Cantina, in St. Amant on the Diversion Canal for outstanding food and entertainment. Rudi and Anner's sister Alfa Noble is the owner/manager of the new Sarita's location in Hammond, LA that opened in July 2012.

At El Magey, we serve original home-made Mexican and Latin American dishes - with all fresh ingredients served piping hot. Even though we serve a full buffet daily, many of our dishes can be prepared specially for you from our full menu.

The quality of our many regional delicacies simply cannot be beat! Tomasita's specialty items include Pupusas, Sopa de Marisco, Carne Asada, Skirt Steak & Shrimp, and Majora Frita. We have delicious homemade desserts, too, including flan and Tres Leches (Three Milks Cake).
